Ho Chi Minh, 21 April 2020 – Despite the second half of the Vietnam Championship Series Spring 2020 split being played online due to the coronavirus situation, Team Flash won it’s first domestic championship for League of Legends last weekend, edging an exciting 3-2 thriller against defending champions GAM Esports in the grand final.

Team Flash’s journey this season started 3 months ago, facing the 7 best League of Legends teams in Vietnam in a round-robin format.

The team had a solid regular season, claiming the second spot behind GAM Esports with a 10-4 standing and second seed, just behind GAM Esports who only dropped one series whole season which was also coincidentally to Team Flash.

During the play-offs, Team Flash faced EVOS Esports in the semi-finals to claim their spot in the top two after beating the latter with a 3-1 score, to set up a repeat of last season’s winner bracket final against GAM Esports again.

The grand finals swung back and forth, with Team Flash and GAM Esports eventually tying the series up 2-2 by the 4th game. The fifth game eventually went to Team Flash, with a convincing and well-deserving 3-2 win.

Vuong ‘Slayder’ Linh, captain of our Team Flash LOL squad said: “We are happy to qualify for our first international event, and I have been waiting for this moment for the last 2 years in my professional career. Everyone’s performance in the final was amazing and finally, we managed to defeat GAM in the finals!”

Terence Ting, CEO of Team Flash said: “This win officially cements Team Flash as Vietnam’s leading esports team, having dominated the biggest mobile esport Arena of Valor calendar in 2019 we finally make our breakthrough in League of legends after narrowly missing out on Worlds 2019 last season.

Our LOL team has shown great resilience and fighting spirit to make it to their first international event, and definitely not the last as we look to make our name in the international League of Legends circuit and represent Vietnam to the best of our ability.”

The Mid-Season Invitational is Riot Games’ traditional mid-year international tournament before the conclusion of the season at the World Championship at the end of the year, hosting the best LOL teams in the world qualifying from their respective leagues and countries.

This year’s MSI venue and event details will be released by Riot Games shortly.
